Nordisk Stund

Sometimes the best partnerships start with a simple conversation.

Nordisk Stund is my invitation to Nordic producers who are interested in Romania and, over time, other markets in Eastern Europe.

No complicated presentation. No promises before we know each other.

Just a moment to talk about your products, what you are looking for, what we are building — and whether there is something worthwhile we can do together.

Why Nordic Choice?

My name is Laurentiu Mihai.

I have lived in Sweden for around twenty years. For more than ten of those years, through Xpress Media, I published Info Xpress, Öresund Spotlight and Stunder.

Today I am developing Nordic Choice, a broader commercial project focused on connecting selected Nordic products, brands and concepts with new markets.

Its Food & Beverage division is Nordic Prime.

But the food story started with something much simpler.

It started with a sandwich

A friend from Bucharest came to Sweden on business.

While he was here, I prepared a Swedish landgång for him — with salmon, seafood, romsås and ingredients I knew well from the Nordic countries.

He loved it.

Some time later, in Romania, we were invited with a larger group to a mountain cabin. On the way there, my friend remembered that sandwich and insisted that we make it again for everyone.

So we did.

Everyone around the table enjoyed it.

But my friend and I looked at each other and knew immediately:

It wasn't quite the same.

The sandwich looked right.
Everyone else was happy.

But we could taste the difference.

That moment stayed with me.

It made me realise how much the ingredients themselves matter — and how many products and flavours that are readily available in the Nordic countries are still difficult to find in Romania and other parts of Eastern Europe.

That simple experience planted the seed for Viking Taste.

From Viking Taste to Nordic Prime

Viking Taste came first as an idea.

I started developing it as a Nordic food concept for Romania, built around the kind of taste and quality I knew from the Nordic countries.

While working on the concept, one question came naturally:

Where do I get the right ingredients?

To create the experience I had in mind, I needed access to the right salmon, seafood, sauces and other products.

Not simply something similar.

And from that need, Nordic Prime developed naturally.

Nordic Prime is the Food & Beverage division of Nordic Choice, created to identify, import and introduce selected Nordic products to the Romanian market.

Viking Taste and Nordic Prime are separate businesses, developed in parallel with complementary roles within the same broader vision.

Viking Taste is intended to become one of Nordic Prime's first customers.

But the opportunity goes beyond Viking Taste.

Restaurants, hotels, specialised retailers and other customers may be looking for the same level of quality.

That is where Nordic Prime comes in.

Selected for Quality

We are not looking for hundreds of products.

And being Nordic is not enough.

Quality comes first.

I would rather work with a smaller number of products that I genuinely believe can earn their place in the market.

Products with real quality.
Products with a clear identity.
Products from producers who care about what they make.

The right products, from the right producers, introduced in the right way.

Products we can genuinely stand behind and be proud to offer our customers.

That is what Selected for Quality means.

What can Nordic Prime do?

Depending on the product, producer and market opportunity, Nordic Prime can support market entry through:
